SENIOR DESIGNER

Posted: December 26, 2011. Are you a Senior Designer looking for an opportunity to become a Production Manager at a growing company? Cogent Legal is looking for a sharp-thinking, personable professional with a diverse skill set in design and multimedia to be a Senior Designer who will start to take on Production Manager responsibilities. This position requires 5 to 10 years of experience in the field of graphics and visual presentations. Since our clients are attorneys, a background in legal graphics—i.e., courtroom presentations, timelines, PowerPoint/Keynote presentations and infographics—is a very strong plus.

Cogent Legal, based in Oakland and serving the Bay Area, was founded in early 2011 by a former trial attorney who consults with law firms to help attorneys best present their cases by using graphics at mediation or trial. The firm is growing quickly and has a fast-paced and evolving work environment that provides good opportunities for growth.

We seek a person who has the design and technical skills and willing attitude to do the actual design work while coordinating with others and overseeing the project from a production standpoint. This position involves creating 2D and 3D graphics and presentations, working with video editing software, PowerPoint, Keynote, InDesign, Flash and other applications. The position would require hands-on expertise in all the various media to create, review and modify graphics, as well as overseeing the work of others.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BA (or higher degree) and 5-10 years experience in the graphics field (litigation graphic experience a big plus).
  • Ability to work with Abode Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and especially Flash interactive coding to create interactive design pieces for attorneys.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Keynote skills required, and/or proficiency in video editing programs such as Final Cut or Premiere.
  • An ability to understand and organize complex information on technical or specialized subject matters, and then to assist the team in writing content and creating visual presentations that translate the subject matter into engaging narratives.
  • A passion for technology and new media to help the team identify and solve technological snafus and develop multimedia presentations.
  • A driven individual who’s also a team player with a desire to produce great work; a confident person who will project a professional image on the firm’s behalf through in-person, phone and online interactions.
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy; superior writing, editing and proofreading skills necessary
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and also to work in the firm’s Oakland office.
  • Willingness and ability to work between PC and Apple in various multimedia programs and formats.
